India Sri Lanka Ferry Service

A new passenger service linking Nagapattinam and North Srilanka is launched by the Government owned The Shipping Corporation of India.

The Corporation in conjunction with The High Commissioner of India and the Ministry of Shipping will launch a passenger ferry between  Nagapattinam Port and the port of Kankesanthurai Jaffna. The vessel deployed will be a High Speed Craft CHERIYAPANI and will have the inaugural voyage on 14th October 2023.

This service would offer an excellent opportunity for the people of India and Sri Lanka to make a low cost travel to Jaffna and Tamil Nadu and further strengthen the historical ties  between both the nations.

The transit time between the two ports will be just 3 hours and to make the travel more economical the operators are willing to offer a 50 Kg free baggage allowance.
